APPLYING FOR CLEARANCES

IN THE STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA, ALL EMPLOYEES IN DIRECT CARE POSITIONS ARE REQUIRED BY LAW TO HAVE CLEARANCES ON THEIR FIRST DAY OF EMPLOYMENT.

CHILD ABUSE HISTORY CLEARANCE

The State of Pennsylvania requires anyone working with children in the social services field to have a current Child Abuse History Clearance. Applicants will be required to provide their own clearance, which must be completed prior to working at PCS. The process can be expedited by completing the Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Form now.

How to apply:

  1. The form can be completed online through the Pennsylvania Child Welfare Portal: https://www.compass.state.pa.us/CWIS.
  2. Create an account and then log in to access your clearances.
  3. The Child Abuse History Clearance is payable by a $13 credit card payment. You are responsible for the cost. This clearance will be credentialing that you will make a part of your personal employment credentials.
FBI CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK

Anyone providing services to children must have cleared an FBI Criminal Background Check through the Department of Human Services. The FBI Criminal background check is more comprehensive and will indicate any criminal offenses that have occurred outside of the state of Pennsylvania. FBI clearances can take four to six weeks. All job applicants must complete the clearance process and present the clearance prior to being hired. The document will be scanned for our records and the original document will be returned to you.

  1. All of the information necessary for registering and completing the fingerprint and clearance check can be found at https://uenroll.identogo.com/.

  3. You are responsible for the $23.85 cost of this process. This is credentialing that you will make a part of your personal employment credentials.
PENNSYLVANIA CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK

The State of Pennsylvania requires anyone working in the social services field to have a current Criminal Record Clearance. Applicants will be required to provide their own clearance, which must be completed prior to working at PCS.

How to apply:

  1. The process can be expedited by applying online at https://epatch.pa.gov/home.
  2. Complete your clearance application online using a credit card for a cost of $22. You are responsible for this cost.
  3. If you are unable to accomplish your clearance application online, you can print out the form and mail it to the State Police. Click here to view or print the record check request form.
ACT 168 FORMS

In order to meet Act 168 requirements, we must contact all of your previous employers where you had direct contact with children and obtain a completed Act 168 Form from them. Direct contact with children refers to the care, supervision, guidance or control of children or routine interaction with children. This will include employers in and out of state and does not include volunteer work completed. You can find out more information at www.education.pa.gov.
